YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 12, ARMENPRESS: The Armenian capital Yerevan will host the 8th World Seminar on Seismic Isolation, Energy Dissipation and Active Vibration Control from October 6 to October 10, organized by American University of Armenia and sponsored by Anti-Seismic Systems International Society (ASSISi) and Armenian Association for Earthquake Engineering (AAEE).
Unlike the previous such seminars, held in industrialized countries, the 8-th one is to be held in a country with emerging economy for the first time. Armenia’s achievements in this area are comparable with those of USA, Japan, New Zealand, Italy and other industrialized countries. Armenia has also developed a rich experience in seismic isolation, that is in reinforcement of buildings and increasing their resistance to earthquakes without stopping their use.
