YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Kristine Khurshudian (63 kg weight category)
performed brilliantly at the 13th European youth
weightlifting championships held in Dortmund, Germany, by beating her
rivals and winning the European title in her category.
In snatch, she lifted 85 kg, and in clean and jerk, managed 105 kg.
In the junior competition, Armenia’s weightlifters won two bronze
medals: Aram Andrikian from Sevan (56 kg weight category)
lifted 212.5 kg in the snatch and clean and jerk combination, and
Tigran Martirosian from Gyumri (62 weight category), 250
kg.
Armenia’s team included eight male and four female weightlifters all
coached by Ashot Mkhitarian.
Two hundred and forty one participants represented 31 countries in the
competition.
