panarmenian: WASHINGTON CALLED ANKARA TO LEND EAR TO US ADVICE ON ARMENIAN-TURKISH RELATIONS SETTLEMENT

The Armenian-Turkish relations were discussed among other issues at a meeting of US state secretary Colin Powell with Turkish foreign minister Abdullah Gul held in Washington the other day. As state department spokesperson Richard Boucher told journalists yesterday, “Arminfo” agency reports, in the course of the conversation C. Powell called Ankara to lend an ear to the US advice on settlement of the Armenian-Turkish relations. As reported by the Armenian Assembly of America, the issue was on the agenda upon the request of a number of senators and congressmen. In his letter to the US state department senator George Allen specifically noted that the blockade of Armenia by Turkey runs afoul of norms of the US and international organizations.
