YEREVAN, JULY 16, ARMENPRESS: A joint Italian-Armenian archeological expedition explored and studied for the last ten years remnants of fortifications and other buildings, left from the Urartian Kingdom that occupied part of modern Armenia and eastern parts of Turkey in the 7-6th centuries BC. The expedition worked in Armenian regions of Vardenis, Martuni and Gavar, located around Lake Sevan.

The Italian team of archeologists was led by professor R. Bischionen and the Armenian team by S. Hmayakian.
