MONTREUX, JULY 14. ARMINFO. Armenian pianist Tigran Hamasyan has won the first prize in the Solo Piano Competition at the 37th Montreux Jazz Festival.
According to the TIME, the competition promotes the stars of tomorrow and allows them to show off their talents in front of a jury comprised of renowned international musicians.
1st prize 4,000 Swiss Francs (about 2,660 USD) is donated by the Association of the Friends of the Festival. An engagement to give a concert at the 38th Montreux Jazz Festival in 2004. An engagement to give a concert at the 2004 conference of the International Association for Jazz Education (IAJE). An engagement to give a concert at the Klavier-Festival Ruhr (Germany) in July 2004. The chance to make a recording at the celebrated ‘Balik Farm’ studio in Ebersol.
