YEREVAN, JUNE 20. ARMINFO. “Turkey must recognize the Armenian Genocide,” the head of the Leftist Democratic party of Italy Pietro Fasio said at the June 14-15 Sofia conference of the Central and Eastern European Commissions of the International Socialist Organization (ISO).
Present at the conference was the secretary general of the ISO Luis Ayala. Armenia was represented by the member of the Dashnaktsoutyun party Mario Nalbandyan, who presented the results of the last elections in Armenia, the Karabakh problem and Turkey’s anti-Armenian policy.
The Armenian delegation voted against the resolution on EU enlargement as the French representative urged the conferees to give “a strict and constructive response to Turkey’s application for entering the EU.” Nalbandyan said that Ankara must fulfill its commitments not just on paper but in practice.
The conferees also discussed the issues of stability in the Balkans, implementation of ISO programs in Russia and the CIS. It was decided that the next conference will be held in Moscow and the conference of the Caucasian region in Yerevan.
To remind, the Dashnaktsoutyun party has been an ISO full member since 2001.-
