YEREVAN, JUNE 17, ARMENPRESS: France’s Picasso Museum in Grimaldi Castle of the town of Antibes will host the exhibition of Armenian outstanding painter Martiros Sarian, called In the Country of the Flying Sun, June 27, with around 80 paintings gathered from state and private collections throughout the world.
“Armenia became Sarian’s palette and he found the way of translating that hot light into colors, thus joining the array of the biggest painters of the 20-th century, like the French fauvists, headed by Henry Mattisse, and the expressionists in Germany,” said the director of Sarian’s museum-house in Yerevan Shahen Khachatrian.
A big and impressive color catalog listing Sarian’s works and articles of famous art critics about his life and work was published on the occasion of the exhibition, the organizer of which is the director of the Picasso Museum Jean Lois Andralle.
The canvases will arrive in Paris June 19 morning to be transported to Grimaldi Castle by a special truck.
