YEREVAN, JUNE 12, ARMENPRESS: Armenian foreign affairs minister Vartan Oskanian refused today to disclose more details of his May 3 meeting with Turkish counterpart Abdullah Gul on the sidelines of a NATO meeting in Madrid, saying only it was very effective. “I have seen a positive mood of Turkish authorities to achieve a breakthrough in normalization of relations with Armenia,” Oskanian said when asked to comment on the meeting.
Oskanian said he hoped that the dialogue between the neighbor nations will continue, albeit by little steps, “to register positive shifts in bilateral relations.” Oskanian argued that new Turkish authorities seem to be more determined in this sensitive issue. ” What is important for Armenia is Turkey’s distinct wish to set this problem afoot. This wish is mutual and Armenia’s conditions to start normalization process without any conditions remains in force,” he added.
