Armenian genocide claims were refuted with scientific research carried out by the Turkish History Institution (TTK) depending on foreign archives, Anatolia news agency reported yesterday.
The research, named “The Armenians Who Migrated”, was carried out in the light of the documents derived from British, American, Italian, French, German, Austrian and Russian archives.
It’s unveiled that those 1,400,000 Armenians who were claimed to be massacred by the Ottomans during World War I lived after the war.
TTK Chairman Prof. Yusuf Halacoglu told the Anatolia news agency that the scientific research put forth that Armenian claims were unfounded and that they would present the research to the world with foreign archives’ documents.
Probing where the Armenians living on Ottoman lands migrated during World War I, the research started last August and is planned to be completed by the end of this year.
Stressing they documented that the Armenians, who were claimed to have been massacred by the Ottomans during World War I, lived after the war, Halacoglu noted that the Armenians who had been killed during the war were those who had joined in the allied forces’ armies. Halacoglu added that some 200,000 Armenian soldiers had been killed during the war.
Halacoglu said that they determined many mass graves belonging to Turks who had been massacred by the Armenians in eastern provinces, underlining that they would continue their excavations.
Halacoglu noted that the research would be turned into a book by the end of this year, adding that they used 50-60,000 documents in their research. He emphasized that the book would be published in Turkish, French, Italian, German, Spanish and Arabic languages.
