COPENHAGEN, MAY 7, ARMENPRESS: The Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE PA) said May 6 it will send a large delegation of OSCE parliamentarians to observe the parliamentary elections in Armenia on 25 May.
In accordance with the Co-operation Agreement between the OSCE PA and the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), PA President Bruce George will recommend that the OSCE Chairman-in-Office designate the Head of the PA delegation as a Special Co-ordinator to lead the short-term OSCE observation mission.
The short-term International Election Observation Mission in Armenia is a joint effort between the ODIHR, the OSCE PA and other European parliamentary institutions.
In conjunction with the Head of the OSCE/ODIHR Election Observation Mission, other appropriate officials and representatives of European parliamentary bodies, the Special Co-ordinator will deliver the statement of preliminary findings and conclusions, assessing the conduct of the elections, the political campaign and the role of the media.
