Football (Premier League)

The third round of Armenian Premier League has
finished this week bringing several changes to
the season standings.

Shirak
beat Banants 1-0 in a battle of mid-standings
clubs.

MIKA holding first place of the league after
2 rounds met with second place Kotayk on April
27.

Kotayk showed an impressive game and five minutes
from time Vahan Tadevosyan scored the only goal
of the match, moving Kotayk into first place and
MIKA into fourth.

On the same day, Pyunik shut out last place Araks
in an 11-0 scoring fest for the two-time league
champions, who moved into second place.

Levon Pachajyan scored a hat trick in the lop-sided
match and Issa Traore scored twice. Eduards Partsikyan,
Aghvan Mkrtchyan, Mamadu Diawara, Karl Lombe,
Tigran Davtyan and Edgar Manucharyan scored one
goal each.

The day before, four other clubs played third
round matches. Lernagorts beat Dinamo 2000 Yerevan,
3-1 and Shirak beat Banants 1-0.

Freestyle Wrestling (European Championships)

Armenia’s freestyle wrestling team is in Riga,
Latvia, for the Freestyle and Women’s Wrestling
European Championships that began yesterday and
will conclude Monday.

Armenia wrestlers will be performing in five
weight categories: Martin Berberyan (55 kg. weight
category)and world champion Aram Margaryan (60
kg.) from Yerevan, Zhirayr Hovhanisyan (66 kg.
weight category) and Areg Ghumashyan (84 kg.)
from Vanadzor and three-time world champion Araik
Gevorgyan from Artashat (74 kg.). The team is
coached by Hrant Yenokyan.

There are no entries from Armenia in the women’s
competition.
