Armenian official says efforts of TABDC to urge Turkish authorities to lift its transport blockade of Armenia and open border proved futile.
YERIVAN (Turkishnewsline) – Armenian co-chairman of a Turkish-Armenian Business Development Commission (TABDC) Arsen Ghazarian said yesterday today that Armenian authorities are prepared to normalize relations with neighboring Turkey without any preconditions.
Speaking to reporters before the start of foreign ministers of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) organization’s meeting in Yerevan “to discuss prospects for interaction in the fields of energy, transport and finances,” Ghazarian said about $100 million worth Turkish goods arrive in Armenia annually illegally.
He said the efforts of TABDC to urge Turkish authorities to lift its transport blockade of Armenia and open border proved futile.
“Our anticipations that Turkey would revise its position over Armenia after last autumn parliamentarian election did not justify either,” Ghazarian said adding that Turkish authorities still remain hostage to a 1992 decision that imposed blockade on Armenia, making its lifting contingent on withdrawal of Armenian troops from Karabagh and final resolution of the Azeri-Armenian conflict.
