YEREVAN, April 28 (Noyan Tapan). The only “Armavia” plane Airbus A320 operating Yerevan-Istanbul-Yerevan flights was damaged in an incident at Istanbul’s airport on April 24 overnight. According to the airline’s press service, in the course of loading the plane with on-board food, the autolift damaged one of the aircraft doors. A320 was removed from the flight and dispatched to Frankfurt. Currently, the plane’s repairs are over and on April 28-29 it will arrive in Yerevan. The passengers of the mentioned flight were taken to Yerevan by other transport means. According to the same source, the vehicle that caused the incident belongs to the West European “Everest” company supplying on-board food. According to preliminary information, the incident happened through the carelessness of the machine operator, however, the final conclusion will be given by an ad hoc commission looking into the incident. The Airbus A320, which “Armavia” leases and operates since October 2002, is now the only plane of the airline. Before April 15 of this year, the airline regularly operated flights from Yerevan to Moscow and Istanbul. According to a decision made by the government recently, “Armavia” was given the rights to operate 29 flights earlier operated by Armenian Airlines.
