arminfo : TURKISH FM EXPRESSES DEEP INDIGNATION WITH OPENING OF MONUMENT FOR KOMITAS IN PARIS

APRIL 25. The Turkish Foreign Ministry expressed a deep indignation in connection with the opening of a Monument for the great Armenian composer Komitas in Paris, the Turkish Mass Media reports.

The FM’s statement says French Foreign Minister Dominique de Villepenne during his meeting with Turkish Premier Recep Erdougan and Foreign Minister Abdula Gul in Ankara received a “notification” that “such events in France” endanger the bilateral ties.

It should be noted that the Monument for the great Armenian composer Komitas was opened on the Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day in 500 meters of Eiffel Tower in the “Canada” alley in Paris. The monument has the following note indicated on: “In memory of composer Komitas and 1.5 million of Armenians who fell victims to the first genocide committed in the XX century.”
