APRIL 24. Today the Armenian people commemorates one of the most terrible pages in its history, the 88th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide in Ottoman Turkey.
Thousands of citizens and guests of Armenia have been moving to the Memorial for the Genocide Victims “Tsitsernakaberd” since the early morning to lay wreaths and flowers and pay homage to 1.5 million of innocent people who fell victims to the mass terror of Turkish janizaries. Armenian President Robert Kocharyan, Parliamentary Speaker Armen Khachatryan, Prime Minister Andranik Margaryan, MPs, the Government members, Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Armenia Gagik Haroutiunyan, the heads of diplomatic missions to the country, the Supreme Clergy, the Command of Armenia’s Armed Forces visited the Memorial. Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II served a liturgy in memory of the innocent victims.
It should be noted that over 20 countries world wide have already officially recognized the fact of Armenians’ Genocide in Ottoman Turkey in 1915. Mourning ceremonies will be held in many countries.-
