APRIL 23. A press conference dedicated to the film “Aram” shot by the French film director Robert Keshishian has been held at the Yerevan “Moscow” cinema today.
Keshishian told the journalists that the film was shot in eight weeks and cost a total of 25mln. francs. The reason for such a short time for shooting is the saving of expenses. Keshishian pointed out that the main goal of the film is showing the dialectics of the Armenian-Turkish relations. “Being a humanist I wish that an end be put to the conflict as soon as possible, though I am sure that I will be able to influence the course of events at least in some way,” the film director said.
Keshishian pointed out that his film does not contain appeals for terrorism, but emphasizes the serious difference between terror and liberation movement. The film director also said that the Turkish diaspora is France has not responded to the film in any way, which is accounted for by the previous demonstration of Atom Yegoyan’s film “Ararat”, which received “all the blows of Turkish critics.”
This is Keshshian’s fist visit to Armenia, as he promised to visit his historical homeland only after finishing his film. The film “Aram” will be demonstrated in the “Moscow” cinema as part of the two-week festival “Armenians of France create their own cinema.” –
