noyan tapan: CARGO CIRCULATION ON ARMENIAN RAILROAD INCREASED BY 18% IN FIRST QUARTER OF 2003

YEREVAN, April 11 (Noyan Tapan). In the first quarter of 2003, cargo transportation on the railroad of Armenia increased by 18% in comparison with the same period of last years and made 112 mln, 123 thousand tons. According to Artak Davtian, the Executive Director of the “Armenian Railroad” CJSC, 3,246 cars of cargo were imported to the republic and 3,130 cars of cargo were exported from the republic during the same period. Artak Davtian also reported that in the volume of cargo imported to the republic the greatest share fell on grain and fuel, and in exported cargo the largest share fell on copper concentrate and cement. The main part of cargo in inter-republican transportation make ore, building materials, cement and copper concentrate.
