YEREVAN, April 4 (Noyan Tapan). During three months of this year flu cases decreased by 13.8% in Armenia in comparison with the same period of last year, and among children aged below 14 flu cases decreased by 11.4%. So, during the indicated period of 2001, 7,742 cases of flu were registered, 6,439 cases of flu were registered in 2002, and 6,372 cases were registered in 2003. Sirak Sukiasian, the Deputy Diector of the Center for Control and Prevention of Diseases of the RA Ministry of Health, said during the April 3 press conference that the epidemic situation connected with flu is still stable in Armenia and it is controlled by doctors. By the Minister’s order daily monitorings of all flu cases are conducted countrywide. Sirak Sukiasian also reported that according to the aggreement reached between the Pan-Armenian United Fund and the Ministry of Health in December 2002, expensive anti-flu vaccination matters were brought to Armenia. Their total cost is about $1 mln, 200 thousand. As of today, 102,000 people have already been vaccinated free of charge. 20,000 of them are medical workers.
