Mrs. Hripsime Srapian, an assistant professor at Yerevan State University and head of Italian language department was awarded last February 28 one of Italian government’s awards- The Medal Of Solidarity for her contributions to teaching of Italian in Armenia and dissemination of Italian culture.
The medal was handed to Mrs. Srapian at a special ceremony held in Yerevan. Addressing the present Italian ambassador to Armenia Mr. Paolo Trabalza said it was his initiative to present Mrs. Srapian to the award, which he said was fully supported by the president, prime minister and foreign minister. The ambassador recalled that his grandfather was the director general of Italian schools abroad when Mrs. Srapian was a student of an Italian college in Bulgaria. She repatriated in 1948 with her family to Armenia and began teaching Italian from mid 50-s at Yerevan State Conservatory and later at Yerevan State University. She authored eight Italian language text-books over these years.
