armenpress: ARMENIAN CAPITAL TO HOST MAJOR CONFERENCE IN SEPTEMBER

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 25, ARMENPRESS: The Armenian capital Yerevan is going to host a major international conference in 2003 September. Titled “Clash of Civilizations or Dialogue’ it is initiated by the Armenian foreign ministry and will be supported by the Council of Europe, Great Britain, Russia and Iran.

Armenian deputy foreign minister Ruben Shugarian said well-known experts, representatives of academic, religious and political circles from the UN, OSCE, Arab Countries League, Russia, Iran Great Britain, USA and other countries have agreed to attend it.

Shugarian also said that a special team has been set up in the ministry to steer the preparation for the conference. Discussions and reports are supposed to be held within two plenary sessions and in separate groups. He said the agenda will encompass a set of urgent questions, which will be scrutinized in a most possible broad context. “One of the agenda issues will be on terrorism, sources of its emergence, reasons and anti-terrorist struggle,” he said.
