armenpress: GOVERNMENT TO SIGN AGREEMENT WITH DENMARK

The Armenian government is set to seal another agreement with the government on Denmark on readmission of Armenian refugees who are seeking illegal refugee asylum in that country. The agreement will cover some 200 Armenian citizens who are living now illegally in Denmark.

Chief of a govenrment-affiliated department for refugees and migration Gagik Yeganian said that the agreement will regulate all procedures concerning the return of Armenian refugees. A special clause in it includes all ways for protection of their interests.

Yeganian argued that existence of favorable conditions for returnees is important for rooting out the illegal immigration, citing several cases when the deported refugees emigrate again failing to get adapted to local conditions.

The agreement foresees three models of assistance to refugees-providing them with loans to start their own businesses, to secure them with jobs, organization of education for their children. The inflow of Armenian refugees into Denmark decreased over the last two years due to introduction of tough emigration laws.

Armenia has signed similar agreements with Switzerland, Poland and virtually all West-European countries.
