ERİVAN (A.A) – 03.02.2003 – Ermenistan Dışişleri Bakanı Vartan Oskanyan, “Türkiye`nin, ülkesiyle ilişkileri normalleştirmek için altın fırsatı kaçırdığını“ ileri sürdü. Ermenistan Dışişleri Bakanlığı`ndan yapılan açıklamaya göre, Oskanyan, Paris`te düzenlenen “Pro Armania“ forumundaki konuşmasında, “Türkiye`nin Ermenistan ile diyalog kurmak için öncelikle işgal altındaki Yukarı Karabağ sorununun çözümü koşulunda ısrar ettiğini belirtti ve kısa vadeli görüşle Ermenistan ile ilişki kurmada tarihi fırsatı kaçırdığını“ iddia etti. Oskanyan, konuşmasında, sözde soykırım iddialarının uluslararası arenada tanınmasını sağlamaları gerektiğini söyledi ve Yukarı Karabağ Ermenilerinin “kendi kaderini tayin hakkının tanınmasının“ bölgedekibarış ve istikrara katkı sağlayacağını savundu. Yukarı Karabağ Ermenilerinin “tarih yazdığını, sadece askeri değil, tüm alanlarda zafer elde ettiklerini“ öne süren Oskanyan, Yukarı Karabağ`ın bağımsız Azerbaycan`ın bir parçası olmadığı iddialarını yineledi.
Vardan Oskanian: “Armenia is ready for dialogue with Turkey”
YEREVAN, February 3 (Noyan Tapan). Armenia is ready for dialogue with Turkey and has made the first step in this
direction, Armenia’s Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanian said in his speech at the “Pro-Armenia – “Armenia in the 21st Century” international conference in Paris, France, on February 1, 2003. “Although Armenia is not willing to renounce its national memories nor dismiss the historical injustices it has suffered, there is ample room for dialogue about issues over which we disagree,” said Oskanian. In his opinion, insisting on a resolution of the Nagorno Karabagh conflict prior to the establishment of any dialogue with Armenia, Turkey has wasted the historic occasion of the disappearance of the Soviet Union to invoke tolerance, neighborliness, statesmanship and engage Armenia in regional relations.

Azerbaijan, Oskanian believes. According to him, “if Azerbaijan does not continue with crude delusional manipulation and na=EFve
wishful thinking, with hopes of returning to a military and political situation that went the way of the Soviet Union, we can all join the international community’s efforts, through the offices of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmen, to continue in the hard search for peace.” The minister sees every reason to be positive about a peaceful, lasting solution to this conflict. “Those who consider themselves friends of Armenia or Azerbaijan, or both, must hold our feet to the table, help us look for the solutions that will last and the formulas that will allow peace to take root,” he said.
