Yerevan, 25 January: Armenia has no intention of joining NATO and its
relations with the North-Atlantic Alliance are developing within the
framework of the Partnership for Peace programme, Armenian President
Robert Kocharyan said in a meeting with Armenian scientists today.
The head of state stressed that the main thing at the present time was
that Armenia should not be seen as a potential threat to NATO, but on
the contrary, as a partner cooperating with the alliance. Commenting
on his recent negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin on
Armenia’s relations with NATO, Robert Kocharyan said that he stated
Yerevan’s position on relations with the alliance in all his meetings.
