Yerevan, January 24, 2002. (CNA). According to preliminary data presented by the experts of the Armenian Ministry of Finance and Economy, in the year 2002 the state debt totalled about USD 1 billion.
Experts point out that an agreement on the handover of five Armenian
enterprises to Russia in order to repay its debt for gas supplies will help significantly reduce the debt.
As a result of the handover, Armenia will repay a major portion of its debt to the Russian Federation – USD 93 million.
