ESSEN, Germany (AP) — Artur Grigorian defended his WBO lightweight title by defeating Matt Zegan of Poland on Saturday.
Grigorian, a 35-year-old Armenian fighting out of Germany, defended his title for the 17th time. But he was booed by fans who thought the challenger should have won. Grigorian finished the bout with cuts around both eyes.
Two officials scored the fight 115-113 and 115-112 in Grigorian’s favor, while one had it even at 114-114.
