Hoovers: ARMENIA JOINS WTO

Armenia has become the 145th member of the World Trade Organization (WTO), the government’s press service told Interfax.

The decision to admit Armenia was made at the WTO General Council’s session in Geneva on December 10.

Prime Minister Andranik Markarian led his country’s delegation at the session.

The Armenian Central Bank’s gold and foreign exchange reserves grew by 16.9%, or $56.4 million in the first ten months of 2002, from $333.2 million to $389.6 million.

The bank told Interfax that the reserves increased by $39.7 million in October alone.

$310.6 million, $12.4 million and $10.2 million at the beginning of 2002.
