1532 natural disasters and occurrences were registered in Armenia in 2002 resulting in the death of 205 and causing 555 to suffer. As the state administration of emergency situations told “Arminfo” agency, in the parting year 16 earthquakes, 18 hurricanes and storms, 30 cases of explosion and breakdown of houses, 63 accidents and 852 fires took place. 12 were killed only in fires, and the damage made some $86.5 million. 28 drowned in the ponds of the republic (except Lake Sevan, where no one died this year), which is 10 persons more than last year.
