ArmInfo: PRESIDENT NOT DELIGHTED WITH POSSIBLE PARTICIPATION OF TURKISH CONTINGENT IN NATO EXERCISES IN ARMENIA

DECEMBER 21. Emotionally I am not delighted with possible participation of a Turkish military contingent in the NATO military exercises in Armenia scheduled for 2003, Armenian President Robert Kocharian stated today responding to questions of the readers of the “Golos Armenii” newspaper. However, as president he realizes that competently developed relations with NATO are more important for the country. NATO is the most powerful politico-military organization in the world and, actually, the pivot of the European security system. Cooperation with NATO has an undoubtedly positive impact on Armenia’s security. This is an initial prerequisite, the president said.
