Noyan Tapan: $122 MLN OF FOREIGN INVESTMENTS MADE IN ARMENIA IN JANUARY-SEPTEMBER OF 2002

YEREVAN, December 18 (Noyan Tapan). $122 million of foreign investments were made in Armenia during January-September of 2002 (without state governance and loans received through the banking system), $81.4 mln from this sum are direct investments. The volume of foreign investments increased by 38.1% compared to the respective period of last year, including a 28.6% growth of direct investments. According to the State Statistical Service, $14 mln. were directly invested after the privatizations of state enterprises. 10.2% of foreign investments were made in the real sector of economy during January-October and 15.3% of direct investments were directed at food production (including alcohol beverages). 10.4% of direct investments were directed into construction and 13.1% to the industrial sector.
