An earthquake measuring 3-4 points on the Richter scale rocked northern
Armenia’s Spitak city at 01:41, local (0:41, Moscow time) overnight to
Sunday. The epicentre was situated 12 kilometres from Spitak.
The country’s national seismological protection service told Itar-Tass that
the quake caused no damage or casualties. The epicentre of the devastating
earthquake of December 7, 1988, claiming the lives of over 25,000 was
situated approximately at the same area.
