YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 18, ARMENPRESS: According to official figures, the number of registered marriages in the first nine months of 2002 was 9,881, by 11.6 percent more than in the specified time period in 2001. The number of granted divorces was 1,323, or by 5 percent less.
The biggest portion of marriages was registered in the capital Yerevan and in the provinces of Shirak and Gegharkunik, the smallest portion in the province of Vayots Dzor. The biggest number of granted divorces was also in Yerevan and Shirak.
Over the same time span 23,673 babies were born and 19,470 people died. The number of babies, died in the first year of life, was 431.
