The 35th Chess Olympiad has concluded in Bled, Slovenia where Armenia’s men’s team finished 3rd out of 134 teams and its women’s team came in 15th out of 89.
The men’s team — Vladimir Hakobyan, Smbat Lputyan, Karen Asryan, Ashot Anastasyan, Artashes Minasyan and Gabriel Sargsyan — went in ranked ninth. In the 14-round competition, the men finished with seven victories, four draws and three defeats.
The women — Elina Danielyan, Lilit Mkrchyan and Gohar Hlghatyan – entered ranked 16th. They finished also with seven victories but with three draws and four defeats.
Russia maintained it’s top World ranking and Hungary took second place in men’s competition.
In women’s competition China was Champion, followed by Russia and Poland.
