YEREVAN, OCTOBER 22, ARMENPRESS: One of the leading Armenian commercial banks, Areximbank, has been cooperating with Visa International payment system for issuance of plastic cards.
An Areximbank official said today there was a growing demand for plastic cards in Armenia. Bank’s chief manager Armen Khandkarian told a today’s news conference that some 10,000 new plastic cards will be issued until 2003 November. The Bank plans to offer its customers most reasonable discounts. It will issue four types of plastic cards- Visa Electron, Visa Classic, Visa Business and Visa Cold.
In 2000 the bank issued 193, in 2001-430 and 1,116 cards this year. Khandkarian said an ATM installed at an intersection of Abovian and Isahakian street in central Yerevan gives out cash a week equal to $500,000.
