Armenia-Azerbaijan-Turkey: Journalists Initiative-2002 started in Kusadasi today under the Open Society Institute Network Media Program. Armenian, Azerbaijani and Turkish journalists gathered under an OSI supported project of Yerevan Press Club, Journalists Union of Azerbaijan “Yeni Nesil”, and the Association of Diplomacy Correspondents – Turkish Democracy Foundation of Turkey. The program will continue until Sept. 24.
At the meeting in which 21 journalists; six Armenian, six Azerbaijani and 9 Turkish journalists, and Open Society Institute (OSI) and Turkish Democracy Foundation (TDV) representatives will attend, journalists will discuss points of view in their countries to other countries, approaching problems and seeking ways to improve cooperation.
At the meeting, which will open with speeches by Yusuf Kanli, the chairman of the Association of Diplomacy Correspondents, Arif Aliyev, the chairman of Baku Press Club, Boris Navasardian, the president of Yerevan Press Club and TDV and OSI representatives and Elchin Shikhli, chief Editor of “Ayna-Zerkalo” daily will hold a presentation on “The results of the media monitoring conducted under the project”. Following Shikhli’s presentation, Laura Baghdasaryan, head of the Regional Center of Association of Investigative Reporters on “The Issue of Turkey’s Accession to the European Union as Viewed by the Armenian Press” and Kivanc Galip Over, chief editor of “Media Dialogue” and secretary-general of DMD on “The Karabagh Conflict in Turkish Media” will make presentations. Journalists will discuss the results of the last meetings and future plans on the last day of the meeting, Monday.
