YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 2, ARMENPRESS: Kristine Najarian from Yerevan has become the first ever Armenian athlete to win a gold medal in the weight category of 52 kg at the Kurash World Cup competitions that are proceeding ahead in the Armenian capital Yerevan.
She has arrived to the first place by gaining victory over her rivals in four battles. Another two Armenian athletes Harutyun Gharibian n (81 kg) and Karine Ghevondian (57 kg) have won bronze medals.
Kurash is a kind of wrestling originating from Uzbekistan. Uzbek president Islam Karimov is the president of the International Kurash Federation.
Some 120 man and women athletes from around 36 countries across the globe are in Yerevan to compete for world champion titles.
