azg: BRITISH AIRWAYS RUNS MORE PLANES

The regional manager of British Airways in Armenia Steve Allen told daily Azg that their company plans to operate a new flight to South Caucasus on Airbus-321.

Mr. Allen said that the South Caucasus is actually the only region where the number of British Airways’ flights operation did not change after the September 11 tragic events in USA. He added that all the agreements with local air companies are in effect and that the cooperation between British Airways and Armenia continues to buff up. He said that there has been such great demand of flights on British Airways in Armenia that the company had to start running several new airbuses. Answering daily Azg’s question, Mr. Allen assured that they will consider the operation of straight Yerevan-London flight, instead of the current Yerevan-Tbilisi-London one, as soon as the number of Armenia passengers that are will need to fly to London raises to the necessary figure.

Mr. Allen also said that they consider the possibility of making Yerevan a transit point for international flights, which would naturally boost the tourism sector in Armenia and will enable more people to get acquainted with Armenia, at the same time enlarging the flow of visitors to London.
