* The Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia is
organizing one-month training seminars on Armenian studies for Diaspora
teachers, in August 2002. It is planned to hold three different seminars
at a time: for elementary, secondary and high school teachers.
A special program has been evaluated for training Diaspora teachers by
the Ministry, and with the participation of the best teachers and
scientists from Armenia and the Diaspora. The training will be held both
in Western and Eastern Armenian. The participants will pass a test by
the end of the program and will be given a special certificate.
There is no participation fee for teachers. However, the participants
should cover their own travel and accommodation expenses. The
applications should be submitted by July 10, 2002.
* The Government of the Republic of Armenia announces of 70 scholarships
available for Diaspora Armenians, for 2002/2003 academic year.
According to the “Procedure on the education of foreign citizens in the
Republic of Armenia b”, a special Committee appointed by the Minister of
Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia will examine the
applications, and decide on granting the scholarship to applicants. The
preference will be given to those, who apply for studying Armenian,
Pedagogic (teaching) and Art Sciences. Besides scholarships, a paid
education for Diaspora applicants is also available.
The deadline for individual application is August 1, 2002.
