Invited by His Beatitude Mesrob II, Armenian Patriarch of Istanbul and
All
Turkey, His Excellency Grand Mufti Mehmet Nuri Yilmaz of Turkey broke
his
fast in the Naregyan Hall of the Armenian Church of the Holy Trinity in
Galatasaray, Istanbul, on 12 December, Wednesday afternoon.
This was the seventh Ramadan meal that the Patriarchal See has organized
for
Muslim associates and friends since 1995. Also attending the Ramadan
meal
were His Excellency Mufti Necati Tayyar Tas of Istanbul, the governors
of
Beyoglu and the Princes’ Islands, the mayors of Beyoglu, the Princes’
Islands, Eminonu, Ambarli, Sisli, Fatih, MP and former Interior Minister
Saadettin Tantan, former governors, academicians, writers and
businessmen.
Patriarch Mesrob and Grand Mufti Yilmaz both delivered speeches at the
end
of the meal, both deliberating upon the dialogue of life and neighbourly
relations that exist between the followers of the two major world faiths
in
Turkey.
