US ambassador to Armenia Michael Lemmon met today with Armenia’s president Robert Kocharian to convey USA president George Bush’s congratulatory message on the occasion of the Independence Day of Armenia. The message, in particular, runs:
“I would like to convey my best wishes and congratulations to all Armenians on behalf of the people of the USA on the occasion of the Independence Day of Armenia.
This year the Independence Day coincides with the 1700th anniversary of Christianity adoption in Armenia. Thanks to the unbreakable soul of Armenians their culture, religion and independence developed during years. Our countries will continue to work together to reach our common purpose of peace, stability and development of Armenia. The establishment of peace in this region will give Armenian people an enormous opportunity to ensure future generations’economic prosperity and security.
The USA has special relations with Armenia, owing to the more than 1 mln American-Armenians, who make their contributions to the development of the USA. I am sure that the friendship and co-operation between Armenia and the United States will become closer and deeper”.
According to the president’s press office, Robert Kocharian once again expressed condolences on behalf of all Armenians on the tragic events in the USA.He said that the terrorism has no limits today and should be prevented by all possible means. As Kocharian said, Armenia is ready to bring contribution to all efforts directed to it.
