Hotel crisis in Van

TurkishDailyNews tells on the hotel bought by an American – Armenian that lost license and is closed down

An American national of Armenian origin bought a hotel in Van, named it “Vartan” but found that the change of ownership required the hotel’s license to be cancelled causing it to lose two stars and face closure, the Anatolia news agency reported yesterday. Viktor Bedoyan, an American of Armenian descent, had bought the “Sirhan” hotel in Van despite not having a residence permit and had changed the name to “Vartan”, which means “Victory” in Armenian. The Hotel’s license to operate was then revoked due to the change of ownership and Bedoyan officially notified it would have to be closed down. Under police supervision Bedoyan took down the stars from the front of the hotel. He was given a day in which to vacate the building. Bedoyan has protested the order and said he will apply to the courts.
