Chamlian Secures Three First-Place Winners, One in Third-Place

The 51st Annual Los Angeles County Science Fair took
place from April 17-19 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Once again, Armenian students excelled in this annual science competition and gained recognition for their hard work.

Armenian students from AGBU Manoogian-Demirdjian School, Chamlian Armenian School, Holy Martyrs Armenian Ferrahian School, Mesrobian Armenian School, Rose
& Alex Pilibos Armenian, Arshag Dickranian, Glendale High School, Reseda High School, and Bravo Medical School competed with individual projects in various categories.

Chamlian students Shant Krikorian won 1st place in the Physics and Astronomy, Areg Hayrapetian won 3rd place in the Mathematics, Maral Der Sarkissian won 1st place in the Chemistry, and Lara Injeyan won 1st place in Engineering
Research.

At the competition, Chamlian students went up against
1,000 middle and high school students and made a name for themselves by bringing in four awards in the Junior Division. Chamlian students commented on the nerve-racking
process:

“It’s usually not as bad as you think,” said Shant Krikorian, who won 1st place in physics and astronomy. “It usually comes out being easier,” said Maral Der Sarkissian, who participated in the chemistry portion of the competition with her project, “Le Chatelier’s Principle.”

Hrair Simonian from Glendale High school, who was also the sweepstakes winner last year, won 1st place in the Senior Division in the Physics and Astronomy category, and Garine Tomassian of West Hills representing Viewpoint Middle
School won 3rd place in the Junior Division.

Veronika Barsegyan from Alex-Pilibos won 1st place in
Engineering Applications in the Senior Division; Susan Mansourian from Reseda High School won 2nd place in the Senior Division Mathematics category; Armen Yerevanian from
AGBU-Manoogian won 1st place in Behavior and Social
Sciences Senior Division; Paul Mekhedjian from AGBU-Manoogian won 2nd place in Computers Senior Division;
