Second Armenia-Diaspora Conference Postponed

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–The commission in charge of making preparations for the second Armenia-Diaspora conference issued a statement on May 16 announcing the postponement of this year’s conference.

The commission cited the fact that 2001 is already an eventful year for Armenia, with major events planned for the 1700th anniversary of Christianity in Armenia, the 10th anniversary of Armenia’s independence, the Second Pan-Armenian Games scheduled for August and other events.

Diaspora representatives have also proposed a postponement of the conference in light of these celebrations.

Thus, the Commission decided to postpone the conference for 2002. The Armenian foreign ministry will announce specific dates for the conference at a later time.
