‘THE ONE WHO RESUMES WAR WILL LOSE’, SAYS ROBERT KOCHARIAN

Today the Armenian president Robert Kocharian at the Yerevan Institute of Economy met with the students. At the beginning of the meeting the Armenian president talked about the settlement of Karabagh conflict, stating that in several days a meeting with the president of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliev will take place in Florida, USA. According to Kocharian such meetings are a very important cycle for Armenia, Azerbaijan and Karabagh. He assured that without such meetings the settlement of the conflict is impossible. An important feature of these meetings is that they are being carried out without any mediation.

“Today we understand the interests of each other. I think the resources of our personal meetings are on the edge of being exhausted as we have discussed all the possible settlements of the conflict”, said Robert Kocharian. He also stated that there are questions which can be settled by Armenia and Azerbaijan without any mediation, but there are also some questions the settlement of which is possible only with the help of OSCE Minsk group.
Answering one of the students’ question the Armenian president said that no pressure was exerted by the French president Jacques Chirac upon the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan.
Concerning the statements about the resuming of the war Kocharian stated that “Armenia has no intention to resume the military actions. The one who resumes the war, will lose”.
In general according to the Armenian president in Azerbaijan the talks about the war are risen by those who lost it once. Robert Kocharian said that after the meeting in Florida, a similar one may be held in Moscow.

The Armenian president also informed that the law about the “Public Service”, which is a serious step against the corruption, is being discussed.

It should be noted that the president stated the importance of the meetings with students and said that they should become regular.
