ARMENIAN FOREIGN MINISTER DISCUSSES KARABAGH IN WASHINGTON

Armenian foreign affairs minister Vartan Oskanian arrived in Washington on March 19 on a two-day working visit. It is his first visit to the USA after the change of Clinton’s administration. Mr. Oskanian will get acquainted with the position of the new administration on a vast range of issues and will meet with the USA state secretary Collin Powell.

The issue of Nagorno Karabagh is supposed to be discussed during the meetings in the USA. Before leaving for the US Vartan Oskanian was in Moscow March 16 and discussed the Karabagh regulation with Russia’s foreign affairs minister Igor Ivanov.
Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan are set to meet in Key West (state of Florida) April 3 at the initiative of Collin Powell in another attempt to regulate the Karabagh conflict.
