Earlier this month Iran, Armenia and Greece signed a memorandum of understanding to open tenders for national procurement to each other. The three countries have taken part in a three-way initiative to promote their interests in Europe, the Caucasus region and the Persian Gulf area for years.
On Saturday March 17, an unnamed source with the ministry said the Iranian Foreign Ministry has rejected Azeri President Heydar Aliyev’s dissatisfaction with expansion of Iran-Armenia-Greece ties, saying the trilateral cooperation would not prejudice any third country.
“Aliyev, who has always welcomed foreigners to the region had better not be worried about regional cooperation,” the source said. He noted that trilateral cooperation between the three countries are aimed at development of ties among the regional states.
“Aliyev’s statements aim to divert the public opinion…,” the source added.
