The National Picture Gallery is now available through the Internet for those who wish to get acquainted with the masterpieces of art kept in the gallery. The presentation of the National Picture Gallery’s website was held at the Armenian National Academy of Sciences on November 2. The project, under “IATP Internet Grants” program, was carried out by the specialists of the Armenian National Academy of Sciences Institute of Informatics and Problems of Automation. The project was implemented with the assistance of the US Bureau of Scientific and Educational Programs and International Council for Investigation and Exchange.
Talking to Noyan Tapan, Artur Vardanian, the author of the program, said that 245 of about 25,000 works of art kept in the National Gallery, and biographies of more than 60 famous Armenian painters are put on the site. Besides the works of the Armenian painters, the site also presents works of Russian and
foreign masters with detailed information on each painting. Petrosyan emphasized the fact that the website has been made in both the Armenian and English languages.
