The exhibition is held under the sponsorship of French President Jacques Chirac and at the initiative of the Paris City Hall. The Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU) and the Armenian State History Museum have contributed greatly to make the exhibition possible.
According to RFE/RL, the Mayor of Paris Jean Tiberri, organized a reception for the Armenian community the same day. Armenia’s Ambassador to France Edward Nalbandian, the Spiritual leader of the Armenians living in Paris Archbishop Gyut Nagashian, the Chairwoman of the AGBU Louis Simon Manoogian, and the
Deputy Director of the Matenadaran Gevorg Ter-Vartanian, were present during the opening ceremony.
The exhibition presents items from the Museum of Armenian History, Matenadaran, Louvre and the National Museum of France, about 100 items in all, found during excavations in the vicinity of the ancient Armenian capital
