Zhoghovurd: Former Armenian, Artsakh leaders have ‘strictly confidential’ decision

The former presidents of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) reportedly had an internal agreement to keep their recently held joint negotiations “strictly confidential”.

Levon Ter-Petrosyan, Robert Kocharyan, Serzh Sargsyan, Arkady Ghukasyan and Bako Sahakyan had initially decided not to release any statement at all to spread the news that they had a meeting, says the paper, citing “informed” sources.

Yet Ter-Petrosyan’s spokesperson, Arman Musinyan, later reported certain details on Facebook, saying that the discussion focused, in particular, on the post-war situation and possible political developments in Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh).

The third president’s office released a statement afterwards, saying that the situation in Armenia was also under spotlight and reporting plans to hold more meetings in the near future.  More specifically, the statement said that the possible scenarios and formats of snap parliamentary elections, and methods of “fight” against the current authorities were considered.

ArmLur.am (the online version of Zhoghovurd) later learned that the former presidents had promised one another not to unveil any details of the meeting even to the closest ones. The paper also tried to contact Ghukasyan, the second president of Artsakh, who reportedly wasn’t available for comments.
