The world-famous American cellist Ian Maxin played the works of Armenian composer Komitas in a Yerevan metro station on Monday. Maxin is visiting Armenia for the first time and has a scheduled concert on October 30 at
Yerevan Chamber Music House.
Ahead of the planned concert, the musician performed at Garegin Nshdeh metro station in Yerevan.
Facebook user Mark Hovhannisyan has posted the video of the musician playing in the station along with a message that the employees as well as the security staff recognized the musician and asked to play for them. The employees have noted it was a great honor for them to host him.
“For the first time in the history of Garegin Nshdeh metro station Komitas work was played by cello virtuoso Ian Maxin,” Hovhannisyan wrote.
