YEREVAN. – Charles Aznavour symbolizes what unites us within Francophonie, said French President Emmanuel Macron, speaking at the 17th Francophonie summit in Yerevan.
“I met Charles Aznavour 15 days ago, he was preparing for a trip to Tokyo, and was looking forward to the upcoming trip to Armenia. It should have been another meeting with his beloved Armenia,” said Emmanuel Macron.
“Aznavour symbolizes life, all that unites us. He is the son of a refugee who had nothing – no ties, no protégé. Armenian was his native language, the second was Georgian. And today there is not a single Frenchman who would not mention Aznavour among the greatest French poets,” Emmanuel Macron concluded.
